Let these assessments help you drive instructional decisions for your students!

How can I use this during distance learning?

Assessing your students decoding and phonics skills is easy with this No Prep Assessment Binder! Display the student copy of the assessment by sharing your screen during your video conferencing (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.) You, as the teacher, can have the paper copy of the Teacher Assessment page in front of you. Record right on your paper copy as your student reads and decodes the words on their screen. Sharing your screen allows the students to access the word list while you assess as you normally would in your classroom.

The assessments cover the following 12 skills:

-Letter Identification: Lowercase & Capital

-Letter Sounds

-Nonsense Words

-CVC Words

-Blends

-Digraphs

-Multisyllabic Words

-CVC-E Words

-CVC-E words with Digraphs and Blends

-Vowel Teams

-Diphthongs

-R-Controlled Vowels

This pack is the perfect companion for your one-on-one intervention and/or small group reading instruction. These assessments will help you drive instructional decisions and can be used before, during, or after you teach each skill.

EDITABLE TRACKING SHEETS are also included in this zip folder! Whole class tracking sheets are available for every section of the binder. An editable Student Tracking Sheet is also included to record student scores throughout the year. The Student Tracking Sheet is a great tool to bring to conferences and RTI meetings. Blank templates are also included if you would like to add names and scores from school and/or district assessments. This binder also includes a Clickable Table of Contents to make finding the assessment you need a snap!

Our classrooms contain students with varying reading abilities. As a result, depending upon differentiated reading abilities within your class, I believe this binder is exceptional for first and second grade classrooms. In addition, kindergarten teachers may wish to use this binder to assess beginning reading skills for more advanced readers. Third grade teachers and Intervention Specialists may find this helpful for struggling, at-risk students. It would also be helpful when taking assessments for IEP’s, depending upon student goals.
