What are Morning Tubs / Bins?
Morning Bins provide a hands-on option to morning work and can turn those busy, hectic mornings into meaningful and independent practice! Morning Bins are the perfect way to wake up those little minds. They can also be used for extra practice or early finishers!
No grading, no pressure, just fun and engaging practice!
⭐Skills included in the Morning Bins:⭐
- Rhyming- Read word then find word that rhymes
- Segment and Blend- Pick card, say the onset then find the rhyme and build the word
- Identify- Read cvc word and identify if real or not then sort it
- Sounds- Look at picture then use color code to show middle sound
- Syllables and Compound Words- Use snap cubes to build tower that shows number of syllables
- Sequencing- Pick set of words and place in order
- Vocabulary- Match letters and word to picture
- Printing- Pick a card then sound out word and write it
- Extra Practice for Tricky Skills- Decide if middle sound of card is short e or i
- Patterns- Look at pattern on card and continue with colored bears
- Counting Sequence- Identify and write missing numbers on 100 chart
- Making and Counting Groups- Use beads and pipe cleaner to show equation on board
- Compare and Measure- Read number sentence and count items to show sentence
- Shapes- Build shape, trace name of shape, count sides and corners, then write numbers
- Sorting- Sort cards by color, size and shape
- Numeral Identification- Read number on card and cover on board
- Base Ten- Flip cards and compare numbers
- Math Printing- Count hearts and poke dots to make number word
- Motor Skills- Pick card and use playdough to complete picture
- Social/Emotional Learning- Pick problem card and draw picture to show solution
