Your Teacher Winter Arc: Keep the Momentum Going

The ‘ber months are here, and as we’ve all seen (or if you aren’t chronically online, good for you and don’t worry, we’ll explain), it’s time for the Great Lock In, aka your Winter Arc.

For real though, we love a good social media trend for fun and giggles as much as anyone, but when it actually supports self-improvement and positive habits? We’re ALL in.

We teachers know the holiday season and the fast-paced months leading up to winter break can bring a little chaos. Routines start slipping, things get messy, and suddenly we’re in survival mode telling ourselves, “We’ll reset after break.”

Well, not this year, teachers. We’re locking in early, keeping the momentum going, and doing a few things now that future-us will be veryy thankful for later.

Here’s how we’re doing it:

Your Teacher Winter Arc: Keep the Momentum Going

Classroom winter arc

It’s not about getting EVERYTHING done, or even necessarily changing anything you’re already doing. It’s simply about keeping the systems you already love fresh and working for you!

The second you start thinking about every cabinet that needs organized, resource that needs printed, lesson that needs prepped, and system you could improve... your ~Winter Arc~ just became a 47-item to-do list. No thank you!!

Maybe it’s adding a few organizational tools so all that ahead-of-time prep actually has a place to go. Maybe it’s staying consistent with the classroom management techniques that are already working, or finding some fun new ones. Maybe it’s simply printing next month’s morning work before you need it!

Classroom organization

Start small by organizing the things you actually use...a few labeled bins, restocked supplies, and designated spots can make your everyday classroom routines SO much easier!

Refresh the routines that have gotten a little too relaxed, sometimes a quick reminder or reset is all it takes to get transitions, centers, and everyday procedures back on track.

Do future-you a favor and create a folder with monthly resources, seasonal activities, extra morning work, and lesson ideas so you’re always one step ahead!

Seasonal decor

Keep the classroom magic going by swapping in some seasonal decor, a fresh bulletin board, cute banner, or little seasonal touch can instantly make your space feel new again!

Your Winter Arc Starts Now

So, teachers, consider this your official sign to lock in.  Not in a reinvent your entire classroom and add a million more things to your plate kind of way, but in a keep doing what’s working and stay one step ahead kind of way.

Keep your systems going, prep ahead where you can, refresh the things that need a little love, and don’t let the holiday chaos completely take over. Your Winter Arc doesn’t have to be anything crazy, it’s just about doing a few little things now that make the rest of the year easier!

Picture January-you walking back into a classroom that’s organized, prepped, and ready to go…suddenly that first Monday back doesn’t sound so scary!
