Schoolgirl Style Gives Back

At Schoolgirl Style, teachers are at the heart of everything we do!  As a small, woman-owned business founded by Melanie Ralbusky, giving back to educators has always been our purpose. Melanie taught for over 20 years, holds multiple degrees in education and administration, and is a proud mom of three! Her unique perspective as a teacher, parent, and administrator gives her the heart to truly understand what teachers need most. And she’s not alone because almost every member of our Schoolgirl Style team has classroom experience too! That shared passion and understanding are woven into everything we do. From day one, our mission has been rooted in compassion for educators, and today we’re so excited to share some of the ways we give back to the true heart of education…teachers!!

 

How Schoolgirl Style Gives Back

 

Free Classroom Makeovers 

One of our favorite ways to give back is through giving teachers free classroom makeovers! Every year, thousands of teachers apply for the chance to have their classrooms transformed. Reading through these applications is both inspiring and emotional, and choosing just a few is always the hardest part. 

When we arrive, we spend an entire week in each teacher’s school, rolling up our sleeves and revamping the space from top to bottom. We’re not professional renovators; we’re teachers, parents, and Schoolgirl Style team members pouring our hearts into creating a classroom that feels magical (and loving every second of it)! From new furniture and rugs to paint, accessories, supplies, and resources, everything is provided at no cost to the teacher. And the best part? The giving doesn’t stop there! Any extra materials we don’t use (often enough to fill almost another whole classroom) are donated to the school and shared with all of the other teachers, so the joy and impact keep spreading long after the makeover week ends!

Support During Hardship and Crisis 

Teaching is already one of the most challenging jobs, and we know that sometimes life adds even more hurdles. Natural disasters, financial struggles, or personal hardships can weigh heavily on teachers. When we hear about educators in need, we do everything we can to step in and support. Whether it’s donating to a wishlist or sending and providing materials and resources, we believe in lifting up teachers the same way they lift up their students every single day.

Just a few recent examples include:

• Donating to Title I and underfunded schools in need of extra support
  

• Sending rugs to a school impacted by mold damage
  

• Providing resources, decor, and rugs to multiple schools and teachers affected by the California wildfires
  

• Supplying materials to a Texas school devastated by a tornado
  

• Supporting a school community recovering from flooding
  

• Donating to a Christian school affected by a tragic school shooting
  

• Replacing materials and providing fire-safe rugs for a kindergarten classroom after an HVAC fire 

We are so proud to play even a small part in supporting these teachers and schools, and so grateful to the educators who trust us enough to share their circumstances with us. It’s an honor every time we’re able to step in and help. While we wish we could reach every teacher who could use a little extra support, we’re a small business doing our best to make a big impact. Every story we hear reminds us why giving back will always be at the heart of Schoolgirl Style!
