Emotional Rollercoaster Classroom Makeover Reveal

For our third and final classroom makeover of the season, the Schoolgirl Style team packed our rainbow pastels and headed to Lakeland, Minnesota, where second grade teacher Gina was ready to bring some bold SEL magic to her classroom! Using our Emotional Rollercoaster collection, we transformed her space into a bright, joyful, and emotionally supportive environment where students can feel all the feels and still stay on task! This collection is all about helping students navigate their emotions while surrounding them with positivity, color, and connection, and Gina’s classroom became the perfect canvas!

Our Favorite Classroom Details 

Flexible Seating

Forget the traditional desks—this room is a flexible seating dream! Gina chose to go all in on flexible seating, and we were thrilled to help make it happen!

• A full stadium seating setup surrounds her whole group rug

• Cozy floor cushions and bean bags add soft, student-friendly comfort

• A bright “color bar” table with stools makes the perfect group workspace

• Small group desks feature a mix of chairs, bench seating, and stools to give students choice and movement throughout the day

Every seating option was intentional, empowering students to choose what works best for their learning style while keeping the space dynamic and inviting!

Teacher Waiting Room

No more desk traffic jams! Our Teacher Waiting Room keeps things calm and organized during work time. Instead of gathering in a crowd, students grab a number and wait their turn—giving you time to help each one without feeling rushed. It’s a simple system that helps minimize distractions, support anxious learners, and keep the whole room running smoothly. Total game-changer!

Emotional Rollercoaster Lanterns 

The heart of this collection? Our Emotional Rollercoaster, of course! This visual helps students recognize and express their feelings with color-coded clarity and expressive emoticons. For this makeover, we brought it to life—literally! Using bright pastel lanterns, we built a 3D version of the rollercoaster across the ceiling, weaving the path of emotions right through the room. We seriously can’t get enough of this detail—it’s bold, interactive, and SO much fun to look at!

 

Cabinet Border Glow-Up

We absolutely love how these cabinets look with borders hanging from under them! This fun detail adds a seamless, polished look to all of the cabinets! It’s the perfect hack to elevate your space—especially if painting isn’t an option at your school. It also doesn’t interfere with opening cabinets or function at all— that's a win win!  We used our Favorite Border on these, but choose your favorite from our Border Bar!

 

Mobile Bulletin Board Must-Have

Small classroom? No problem. This mobile bulletin board was a total game-changer. We lined both sides with our Senior Year Composition Border, and we kept one side a functional whiteboard. Then we used our Passing Notes Lined Bulletin Board Paper on the other side of the board to create a mobile writing center by hanging our Punctuation Cards! Whether it’s holding anchor charts, being used in centers, or for any other function you can name, it gives teachers the flexibility to create new spaces in seconds!

Classroom Command Center 

Every teacher needs one! This Classroom Command Center keeps the classroom running smoothly. Located right by the door, it’s the perfect drop zone for everything students bring in—nurse notes, class checklists, lunch money, and more. Because it’s the first thing they see when they walk in, it becomes a natural part of their morning routine to drop off anything they need into the right folder—keeping you organized and ready to start the day!

This setup creates the perfect morning flow for students as they walk in. First, they stop by the Affirmation Station to start the day feeling confident and seen. Then, they pass the organizational crates to get everything they need—setting the tone for a smooth, empowered start before they even reach their seats!

Clouds + Star Cutouts

Cue the dreamy vibes! We hung soft white clouds from the ceiling with star cutouts gently floating beneath. You can find these clouds in our Amazon Storefront, but for our DIY lovers out there— you could construct these with cotton! They are dreamy, calming, and add the perfect touch to the space! 

 

Organizational Crate Hack

One of our favorite trends this makeover season? Organization crates on top of cabinets! Gina’s classroom made the most of her vertical space by storing Seasonal Monthly Bins up high—and trust us, it’s both functional and cute. These crates help with lesson planning, reduce daily clutter, and look super tidy and colorful!

 

Bulletin Board Paper as Wallpaper

One of our favorite ways to make a classroom pop is by using our Fadeless Bulletin Board Paper like wallpaper! Just secure it with Mavalus Tape (or staples, if you're allowed to staple your walls) for an instant transformation!
